COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE 2009-10

Mandate:

1. To provide clear, consistent and relevant communications to the Association’s membership on a regular and on-going basis.
2. To provide communications to the broader community and to the media on an as needed basis.
3. To oversee and provide assistance to the Association’s Executive Committee in the preparation of various communication tools and strategies with a view to ensuring clarity, efficiency and message consistency.
4. To respond to and act upon any communication or messages that may be prejudicial to any and all members of the Association or to its actions, whether intentional or not.

Strategies/Activities:

1. Set up and promulgate the Association’s web site.
   • Develop the web page(s) including interactive aspects and appropriate links
   • Ensure updating
2. Develop a cost-efficient membership information sharing process:
   • Develop an e-list and other ways of reaching members without excessive mailing costs.
   • Develop a stream-lined mailing process.
3. Establish an amber alert system whereby issues arising from various sources can be identified by members and addressed by the Communications Committee in a responsive and responsible manner.
4. Report to the Executive Committee on a monthly basis or in a timely manner.
